Japanese Dance
(Nihon Buyo)
Nihon Buyo has derived from Kabuki tradition, which is a theatrical drama accompanied by music and dancing. The same types of Kabuki music are also used in Nihon Buyo performance.
The types of music include Nagauta, Kiyomoto, and Gidayu. To accompany the singer, they are played by the instruments such as Shamisen (string instrument), Tsuzumi (drums), and Fue (flute).
As Nihon Buyo has been transforming into an independent art form, it has gained wide popularity among sophisticated people. Now it has been practiced by those who keep its tradition, as well as those who enjoy for their own pleasure.
