Philosophy

I alway feel that the goal of the “Beautiful Japanese Dance” is so far away. I often realize that I had only made a small step into the entrance of this world, I have learned and understood what “Beautiful movement” is from my teacher, but I have not reached the level of how my teacher danced. So, I repeat the challenge and the challenge becomes my endless struggle. Finally, I accept the struggle as a element to enrich my life.

I love a tone of the shamisen as I do Japanese Dance.
I can’t miss even if it makes very faint sounds because it tells scenes and emotions delicately. Japanese Dance have very fine movements hidden by big movements which express scenes and emotions as well as shamisen sounds do.

My Expressions spread when the shamisen sounds and the movements and my feeling are linked. It is a gorgeous moment that I am always looking for.

I want to dance as if I absorb the shamisen sounds into my body like I am breathing, and flow out the words of lyrics from my fingertips.
As a member of Studio Mai family, I wish you could challenge toward this destination with me.
